Len Jenkin, hero of the avant-garde, returns with a rumination on the story of the man of the sea, Jonah. Jonah’s a man on the run. He hops a greyhound to Joppa and then grabs a cabin on a cruise ship bound for the land of Tarshish and points east in the Mediterranean. Jonah whiles away his time on-board at the Grass Skirt Grill, while Sheila and the Love tones sing their siren songs until the Pirate Queen and her crew commandeer the ship and he tumbles into the waves.
This world premiere was developed at The Sundance Institute Theatre Program in the summer of 2015 and promises an adventure complete with a visit to Ninevah, a Dairy Queen, and, of course, the whale. Jonah will hit Undermain Theatre with a splash to end our 2015/16 season!
If you feel like escaping Oxford at the Boulevard Apartments in Corinth, Texas for the day, this live theatrical performance is a perfect opportunity to do just that!
