St. Andrew United Methodist Church is happy to host its 12th Annual Prom Closet! During this community event, girls are invited to come to select a dress and accessories – all at no cost! Check it out on Saturday, February 22nd.
St. Andrew Prom Closet, run by the St. Andrew United Methodist Women, provides donated dresses from size 0-28 for prom. Additionally, there are accessories available to go with the dresses, including jewelry, shoes, handbags, and wraps. All of it is available at no cost, and the only requirement is that each girl must be present on-site to select her dress and accessories. There are currently 4,000 dresses available to give away. Community members, businesses, organizations, and local groups have made donations for this annual event.
Prom Closet was created to provide a unique shopping experience for young ladies who might not otherwise be able to attend prom due to financial circumstances. Prom Closet organizers and volunteers confirm that not only is the need great, but the impact a donated prom dress makes on the recipient and her family is immeasurable.
Attendees can expect the event to be set up like a boutique. Each girl will be greeted as she enters the room and directed to dress racks containing dresses fit to her size. Once she has selected a potential dress, she can try it on in one of 30 dressing rooms. Each participant can then shop the boutique for jewelry, shoes, a handbag and/or a wrap.
