The performance will begin with a lively ballet called Winterwonderland with choreography by Margo Dean set to familiar seasonal tunes. Also included in the program will be A Flamenco Hannukah, a spirited Flamenco piece celebrating the Jewish holiday tradition with choreography by Elise Lavallee. Featured will be The Christmas Grump, a ballet based on How the Grinch Stole Christmas with choreography by Margo Dean.
The performance will close with O Holy Night a re-enactment of the Nativity. It will feature Mary and Joseph, the Angel Gabrielle, and shepherds as the story are told through song and dance. “Bringing dance to the community in a festive and enchanting program in the heart of Fort Worth reflects our core mission at Ballet Concerto to make dance accessible to our local youth and inspire them to pursue it,” said choreographer, Margo Dean.
Mark Lowry of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram wrote of this performance, “A star for the Holiday Special that is not The Nutcracker. Margo Dean deserves a gold star.”
A Holiday Special is presented in partnership with Imagination Fort Worth’s outreach programs. The concert is made possible by the generous support of the Texas Commission on the Arts, The Arts Council of Fort Worth, and foundations and private supporters.
Ticket prices for the performance range from $15 - $35. For tickets and more information, visit www.balletconcerto.com or call (817) 738-7915.
